I am honored to endorse Brian Hunke for re-election to the Hopkins City Council. Brian has been an outstanding voice for Hopkins since 2018. As the city responds to many development opportunities, Brian’s Master’s Degree in Architecture allows his broad knowledge and expertise to assure that interest in our city balances the benefits of growth with the strong history of maintaining Hopkins’ home town feel. He has brought his insight to the Zoning Regulations Update Working Group, the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, and Planning & Zoning Commission. His passion for the city is reflected in his personal life as coach and board member of Hopkins Area Little League and his membership in the Hopkins Historical Society. Hopkins is fortunate to have such a devoted and hardworking Council member. Please join me in re-electing Brian Hunke on November 7th!

Current Member, Board of Managers for the

Minnehaha Creek Watershed District

"

Brian Hunke is a strong, visionary and collaborative leader for the citizens and City of Hopkins. In my experience as a Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) liaison to the Hopkins City Council, I have seen him in action while we have been working collaboratively on the 17 acre development at 325 Blake Road: a transit-oriented and nature-based development which is planned to be a destination park and multi-unit housing development which includes affordable housing. Working closely with MCWD, he has persisted in finding the best solution for this site that benefits Hopkins, and helps manage flooding and significantly reduces pollution in the iconic Minnehaha Creek - all of which benefits our entire region. In doing so, he has helped leverage Hopkins resources to bring in significant funding from multiple regional sources to benefit Hopkins. His long standing tenure as a Hopkins resident, his background in architecture, and his dedication to the greater public good, all have positioned him well as a champion for sustainable growth and partnership between MCWD and the City of Hopkins. I am honored to strongly endorse Brian for Hopkins City Council—we need the quality of his authentic and service-based leadership for the citizens and City of Hopkins, and the broader natural environment of the Minnehaha Creek watershed.

Brian’s leadership in Hopkins means a lot to me.  He is a proven problem solver, having guided our community with a thoughtful and pragmatic approach.  It has been shown in his efforts with affordable housing, environmental initiatives, and Mainstreet support during periods of a pandemic, inflation, and transition.  Brian has shown an ability to put in the work to grow and improve our Hopkins community while consistently seeking and incorporating community feedback.  I hope you’ll join me in supporting him for Council!

Amy Brace

Business Owner, Amy's Cupcake Shoppe

Since opening the shoppe in 2016 I have seen Brian and his amazing family visit so often we have turned into friends! Brian supports small businesses like Amy’s Cupcake Shoppe with a passion. When there are chain coffee shops around that would provide almost the same treats, he chooses to come to a small business and in turn supports his community. When we come together as a community to support small businesses, we all win. Brian has shown great leadership in Hopkins, and I look forward to seeing what he can accomplish on his next term as a council member. Thank you for all your hard work, Brian!
